We pride ourselves on staying up to date with the latest developments in the cleaning world so the news this week of the Seabins in Portsmouth Harbour really interested us.

The Times  has reported (here) these amazing innovations that have been introduced into the marina just metres away from Sir Ben Ainslie’s Land Rover BAR headquarters.

The Seabin can collect 1.5kg of waste a day, which equates to 20,000 plastic bottles or 83,000 plastic bags a year. It also traps fragments of plastic as small as 2mm in diameter. Invented by two Australian surfers, the Seabin sucks up waster and water in from the surface by a submersible pump and passes through a catch bag inside the Seabin which can hold up to 12kg of debris.

As well as taking care of marinas and ports, the Seabin is to be deployed over sensitive seafood locations such as oyster beds.

Such a brilliant and sadly needed invention.

Now which of my clients can I get to use one on!!
